We assess each espresso maker in the Good Housekeeping Institute Kitchen Appliances and Innovation Lab based on its temperature, noise level, consistency, taste, brew time, and simplicity of use.
Over the past few decades, we have evaluated more than fifty espresso machines to determine which are the finest for creating delicious espresso at home. We brewed more than 60 cups of espresso in the lab using well over 20 espresso machines in our most recent test. We test like this.
In order to assess performance, we clock each espresso and test its temperature repeatedly to see if it is constant.
We also take note of the crema’s quality. To evaluate each drink’s flavor and body, our specialists sample the espresso.
Testing the function of cappuccino and milk froth
Friedman, Philip
To evaluate the quality of the frothing, we test the machine with both skim and oat milk if it has a milk frother. To evaluate the overall quality of the beverage, we create cappuccinos and lattes using the machine’s default settings when appropriate.
Our favorite machines are reasonably quick to brew, easy to set up, easy to operate without a user manual, and quick to heat up.
Our tests showed that the best machines made a hot, tasty cup of espresso. Our preferred shots had a smooth crema with no discernible air bubbles, good depth, and were not overly acidic or harsh.
